Prayer Journals

I haven't actually thought about writing or recording my thoughts in quite some time. It wasn't until my trip to Peru that I remembered how therapeutic and useful it was to journal.
Now, something I've always struggled with is prayer and really just letting down my walls and pride to ask for help from God. I truly used to think that I could do it all on my own. What is so nice about writing is that I may start out with feelings on my mind and probably recent events I feel are worthy of recording, but by the end I find myself writing out prayers. It's like I have to use a pen and paper (or in this case maybe a keypad and computer) to move aside all of the thoughts and overwhelming emotions in order to be in a clear and ready mindset to pray.
I tend to write things that I need from God. I ask for courage, or strength - two of my most common struggles. As well as patience and wisdom. There are other prayers where I find myself praising God and truly thanking Him for all of the things in my life He has blessed me with.
Prayer journals are how I meditate, refocus, and reconnect when everything in my life feels shaky or uncertain (which is pretty much all of the time).

Maybe try this method of writing down your thoughts. It has helped me 100% and the best part is looking back at past journals and seeing, not only how you've grown in faith and just as a person in general, but also looking at how God has answered those questions that haunted your mind.

What is this life going to be about?

Happiness
Love
Knowledge
Giving
Truth

It is time to decide.
What kind of life am I trying to lead? Who do I want to be seen as? Who do I want to become?
